| Kall Kwik Rally 2008 Saturday 15th November | |
It only seems like yesterday..... ....A brief history of the Kall Kwik National Rally The event organised by the De Lacy Motor Club first ran in 1956 and by 1959 it had been named the Seven Dales Rally. As its name implies, the event visited seven of the Yorkshire Dales and became the epitome of rallying in the UK. As the cost of organising motor sport increased, a sponsor was sought to associate their name with the rally. South Yorkshire Motors, Palmer Tyres and the Selby-Fork Motel provided a succession of support for the event until, in 1972, Mintex became the sole sponsor. That association lasted until 1982, at the time the longest running sponsorship of any rally in the UK. During that time, DeLacy brought the event through to International status (in 1976) as the English round of the British Open Championship. Since 1982, National Breakdown, Cartel and Talkland Communications have all used the rally as part of their marketing campaigns to increase the visibility of their brands. In 1994, Kall Kwik Print, copy, Design of Harrogate came forward to support the event as it was re-introduced into the calendar as a National-B permit event.
